A Book She Loves & Where She Chooses To Read

Rosemary's Baby - Ground Coffee Shop, Northern Ireland
Rosemary’s Baby is a book that I read when I was 17 years old. The book is about a woman who is impregnated by the child of the devil. The vivid memory I have of reading this book is when I was 17 and was on work experience so I was off school, and I had spare time during the week before I went to work. I would go to Ground, a local coffee shop in my hometown to read the book, which I could never put down. I remember finishing the book that week, I was so hooked on the story that I finished it within a few days of starting it.
The book taught me that everything isn’t how it seems, and that you can’t trust everyone you come across.
The place has a special place in my memory as that coffee shop is where I would always go if I never had anywhere else to. If I had time to pass or nothing better to do, I would sit there with a hot chocolate and Nutella cake and read. One specific thing I remember is the music. They had their own playlist that would always be on in the background, one special song that sticks with me is the song ‘La Vie En Rose’. The playlist would be on repeat and never stop. The place felt like home. The staff recognised me; I had a specific spot upstairs right beside the window that would look out onto the main street of my town.
If I could bring one person to this spot it would be my good friend Lizzie. I would choose her as I feel that she would enjoy the atmosphere and she would love the music and the calm environment. She also loves coffee which is a plus!
I haven’t been back to this spot in nearly 2 years, which breaks my heart as it is somewhere that I would visit often. My aim is to go back to the coffee shop, that exact same spot and read there again to relive those happy memories!
